considerations of idealized form contrasted with imperfection, the creation of exclusion, exploration of divisibility, and the use of materiality.
drawing from the etruscan tumuli, i set out to create a necropolis, mimicking the shadows of skyscrapers and crowded views of contemporary urban landscapes, yet still rooted in ancient ruin. cylindrical volumes employ the continuity and finality of the circle. basalt: heavy, weathered, dark, and reverberant of the water below, produces a solemn atmospheric experience.
